Growing up in a small beach town in Northern California Dungeness crab is part of our culture and is one of my favorite foods. The seasonality gives the joy of eating dungeness even more specialty. Each year the commercial season gets adjusted based on whale migration patterns which have been changing due to warming water and other climate change factors. The crab season is pushed off to avoid whale entanglement in the crab trap ropes. Respect the ocean by choosing to support local fisherman and pick up trash to protect our sacred coastlines.
